Craftsmanship	Do It Yourself. June is good with her hands. DIY is a staple of her life since she was a tiny thing. Crafts and woodwork are a hobbie, but her true talents are in hair styling. It's the one realm she's had actual training in, instead of having to teach herself or logic it out.	5
Empathy	A Shoulder To Cry On. June's a good listener. She cares for people as a default and her heart goes out to those in pain. She's been known to tap into the emotional ambiance of a room, and have her own moods tugged and pulled with the tides of other people's highs and lows.	4
Resources	The Frugal Gourmet. June pulled a Prodigal on her family, taking her chunk of the inheritance and striking out on her own. She's got a good job with good pay and better tips, as well as a natural disposition toward the practical.	4
Burglary	Youthful Indiscretion. She'd call it a life skill, rather than criminal activity, as growing up in the outskirts led to a lax attitude about such things. At least in her family. Being able to pick a lock and hotwire a car has saved her on more than one occasion.	4
Guns	Shotgun Bang. This is a strictly hunting style knowledge of guns. She can use shotguns and the like very well, but hasn't hand much to do with other types of guns.	3
Driving	Wheel Man. She can handle herself behind the wheel of just about any vehicle. She grew up on big trucks and tractors, but has since swapped to sedans and coupes. In her youth, there were a lot of empty land that she could rip up, so she's not a stranger to somewhat dangerous handling.	3
Performance	Spectator Sport. June loves the arts, but has no knack for them herself. She knows about arts, music, plays and literature, but enough to appreciate, not participate. She does enjoy a good dance here and there, though.	3
Discipline	Boot Camp. June grew up under strict rules and behaviors. She enjoyed rebelling against them, but they're still ingrained. She has a good work ethic and will go until she gets the job done.	3
Stealth	Not Exactly Ninja. She's good at sneaking about, again from a more playful youth. But these days, it's more about blending into the crowd. She's good at going unnoticed, doesn't stand out much.	2
Lore	The Basics. When it all came about about the Fey, her family went a little nuts. The kneejerk reaction isn't always a good one, though, so June did a little studying on her own, as well as just talking to people, to learn about this new brand of people.	2
Athletics	Runner 4 Life. June takes care of herself and likes to keep healthy. Plus, regular exercise means she doesn't feel bad eating some cake later.	2
Investigation	Ms. Drew. A natural amount of awareness coupled with an abundance of curiosity made her into a natural sort o detective. She can't run down a crime scene, but she does notice things around her.	2
Alertness	Passive Awareness. June pays attention. Even when she's not particularly trying to. It's a good safety feature.	2
Weapons	Improvisation. June's not good with her fists, but put a bat in her hands and she's a mess of trouble. She's good at turning everyday items into a weapon.	1
Survival	Girl Scout. Living in the boonies and earning her badges have given her a solid hold on how to last in the wilderness, as well as finding a way out of it and back to civilization. And she can sell cookies like nobody's business.	1
Endurance	Tough Stuff. She's not a wimp, this girl. She may not be able to fight of attackers, but she can handle extended physical labor just fine.	1

Scholarship	Public Library. June has a very general knowledge base, but it sits above a simple high school level education purely on her own urge to study things and learn more. That curiosity.	1

Background

Small town girl. June Townsend was born right into one. Her youth was spent part in hard work, discipline and religion and part in playful mischief and youthful, but ultimately harmless, rebellion. Her father put her to work on his small farm, taught her about tools and cars and what most would see as 'boy stuff'. But he saw that all three of his kids, of which June was the middle, got the same education from him. It was practical, life long skills in his estimation, good for everyone. Her mother, on the other hand, only taught June and her sister Mary about things like cooking and sewing and the like. It was June opinion that she came out well-rounded, between the two of them. She did alright in school, but was more interested in her own study. When school work tapped into something she'd studied on her own, she soared, but otherwise, she was merely passable.
A life under strict parents with a bent toward church-going morals kept June well-behaved at the beginning of her life, but once she hit her teens, things started to change. Once she worked out that she could get away with a little fun, she did it. She would sneak out, she'd hang out with boys, she'd take cars for joyrides now and then, but all in all, never dipped too far into the category of Bad.
When she was fifteen, the world shifted in front of her eyes. Everyone's eyes. Her little community was chaos when the local doctor or the lifelong friend or a fireman turned out to be something Other. Her parents jumped right into fear, assuming the Fey were inherently bad and needing to be brought back to the light, so to speak. It didn't sit right with June.
Her siblings, too, agreed that it was more strange and less scary, but healthy fear or respect for their parents kept them from disagreeing more vocally with the adults. But June had that little rebellious streak that gave her just enough guts to believe something different and openly. She went out to talk to some people who'd turned out to be Fey. She did research on her own. She tried to suss out the truth beyond the fear and wonder that fairytales come true caused.
Ultimately, she came to the conclusion that they were just like anybody else. Some good, some bad, most somewhere in the middle.
It was an endless fight in her house. Her parents forbid her from Fey friends or 'occult' studies, as they called them. They even refused to send her to college, because she didn't need outside influences making this all worse. She ended up going to a beauty school, paying for it on her own with an overnight job. It was her first step away from her family.
Over the years, she became a talented stylist, gathering a lot of good will and positive feedback from her clients. Her family thought she was getting too fancy for them, and blamed the more artistic lifestyle she was crafting for herself. And that lifestyle, they blamed on her exposure to these Fey people. Animosity grew and festered among all parties, each feeling morally superior to the other and thus, giving no ground to the other's viewpoints. When her family found out that she was dating a guy who'd gotten turned into a Faerie, the situation exploded. Years of arguing and bitterness poured out in insults and screaming and ultimately, when her father figured out that she was sleeping with the boyfriend, insults weren't enough. He hit her, and more than once. It was the only time he'd ever lifted a hand to her, but he let go of years of hate, not just for June, but the Fey community that she'd come to represent in his mind. It was only the interference of her older brother that stopped him from doing any lasting damage.
June did have to go to the hospital, though. She came out of it with a broken arm as the worst, but a single hit would have been enough to harden her against her father. While she was there, her boyfriend came to see her, with a friend of his. The friend insisted on telling June's fortune, an experience that was odd, interesting, but didn't stick with her much. Much more so was the small gift her boyfriend left with her. A puzzle box. He never told her how to open it, and she still hasn't figured it out. But curiosity keeps her trying.
It was a goodbye gift. He was leaving town, and she wasn't prepare or able to pack up and leave with him. But him doing so gave her the push to do the same. With her brother and sister's help, she got her stuff and got out of town, never to look back. Her mother had slipped in a chunk of money, a big chunk considering her college fund was still there, unused. The money came with a letter, something that spoke to June of how torn her mother was between her daughter and her husband. She cared for both, but choose the latter. June didn't expect to split her family with her leaving, but there was a spike of pain in the sudden knowledge that they were all willing to help her leave, but not to follow her away. Or to keep contact with her after she'd gone.
A heavy heart took her to LA, where she set up in a small apartment and found herself a good job in one of the city's fancy salons.

Personality

Curiosity defines a big part of who June is. It's been curiosity that's taught her things and brought her low, her highest and lowest moments triggered by a single hint of curiosity. She's an optimistic person, despite having many accounts of the nastier side of what the world has to offer. She has hope and a bright disposition. She may be a little cheesy, her humor a little punny, but it's honest and open and she finds it easy to make friends and pull in loyal clients.
The revelation of the Fey has caused a lasting crisis of faith. While she was once a devout Christian, now she's not so sure of what's true. She still believes in a God out there somewhere, just maybe not the form she's been taught. Much of the philosophy behind her former religion sticks with her, but so, too, do the philosophies behind many others. She's on a life quest to find out what's out there and forge her own truth out of it all.
Prone to foottapping, humming and other such energetic habits, it's not hard for others to see her generally Up attitude. And it isn't much of a mask, either, as she has a goodness and a warmth through to the core of her personality. Darker moments, when they come, are just that. Moments to be accepted and passed through.

Flaws

• The Phobia: June has a fear of heights, not having been confronted with them until the plane ride that took her to LA, and it was scary enough to give her a firm foot in fear.
• The Fortune & The Box: These two things mean more than June knows. She doesn't remember the fortune, really, as it sounded too much like the horoscopes you find in the paper, but she's kept the box with her as a sort of prized possession. Even without knowing what's in it. Maybe because she doesn't know what's in it. (And neither does the player, so I'm leaving this open for GM fiddling, should the mood strike.)
