San Pedro

One of the city's port districts, the area was once dominated by the fishing industry but is now mostly home to the middle class. On the southern tip of the peninsula, it is connected to the city proper by the Harbor Gateway along 110. The ocean breeze keeps the beach community cooler in summer by as much as 18 degrees and conversely, in winter, the area is slightly warmer.

Notable landmarks here include the Vincent Thomas Bridge, which joins to Terminal Island. Nearby is the LA Maritime Museum and numerous Victorian buildings and museums are present adding a quaint feel to the beach areas.

The Waterfront Red Car Line runs along the front between downtown San Pedro and the Cruise Ship Terminal.
