South East/Watts

This area is one of the poorest in the city, county, or even state, with most people here falling below the poverty line. Apartments are dense and overcrowded, sometimes with two families sharing a 1000-square-foot home, and it’s clear that anyone with enough fortune to own a home doesn’t have the time or means to keep it up; the small bungalows in this area are scarred by vandalism and the elements. Windows are barred with wrought iron and most available concrete has been marked by graffiti. Broken-down cars are stripped of everything useful, abandoned, and left to rust.
