TCL Chinese Theatre

The Walk of Fame is one of the draws of this area of the city, with pink terrazo stars inlaid into the sidewalk, each depicting the name of someone in the entertainment industry. But in the forecourt of the Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, visitors can literally step into the footprints of some of the most celebrated stars, as here concrete blocks bear the signatures, footprints and handprints (among other things!) of stars from as far back as the 1920s to present day. The theatre itself, still a working cinema, is designed to resemble a Chinese pagoda. A Chinese dragon stretches across the front of the theatre and two Ming Heavens dogs guard the front entrance. The interior continues the Chinese motif with a red and gold color scheme, and has been the site of many premieres and a few Oscar ceremonies.
