UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden

The UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden was inspired by the gardens of Kyoto and in fact, many of the structures were transplanted here from Japan. Large Koi ponds are surrounded by antique carvings, water basins and lanterns in this peaceful space, overlooked by a five-tiered pagoda. Small wooden bridges in a variety of colors span the streams and rock beds and the trees and plants are all immaculately cared for. It’s said that someone, or something, looks after this space and no violence is tolerated within its boundaries.
